Basic Buddhism: Thursday Evening Talks by Henry Shukman

No talk on Thursday evening July 4.

Henry is offering a series of talks on Basic Buddhism.  He will explore a variety of relevant questions about Buddhism and practice….

What is meditation? How does it help reduce suffering?

What are some of the basic teachings of Buddhism and what do they have to offer modern secular society?

Why has buddhist practice been so influential on meditation and mindfulness in the modern world?

Is buddhism non-religious and non-theistic, as many practitioners claim?

Why can it be practiced by followers of other faith traditions?

What is bodhi or “awakening,” the term at the root of the word “buddhism”?

Join us each Thursday at 6pm for meditation and Henry’s talk begins at about 6:30pm and will last for 30-45 minutes. All are welcome. The series will continue through the summer. Don’t worry if you miss some of the talks, all are invited each and any week.

Henry’s talks are offered at no cost, but donations are gratefully accepted.
