Dear Friends and Supporters,
We’ve had an exciting and busy year at Mountain Cloud Zen Center. Our many programs are flourishing, observable by the on-going construction of our expansion plan as well as the many new and familiar faces at our gatherings and events.
To sustain our programs and teachings, we need your support. In addition to your membership, you can help contribute to expanding Mountain Cloud’s light wider and further. Through your generous donation, you have the opportunity to help spread the immeasurable gifts of the dharma.
Please consider supporting the many ways Mountain Cloud enriches the lives of those impacted by its numerous ongoing programs…
Teachings and personal guidance from our resident teacher Henry Shukman. Henry offers weekly teisho, private interviews and the opportunity to become a Zen student. Mountain Cloud could not flourish in the way it has without Henry’s dedicated guidance.
Daily meditation programs, classes and activities attended by our growing local, national and international sangha of Zen students.
Regularly scheduled retreats and sesshins throughout the year, including five and six day sesshins, introductory weekend retreats, and daylong sits (zazenkai).
Weekly email newsletter with an inspiring message from Henry.
Weekly dharma podcasts by Henry Shukman and other Zen teachers.
The Mountain Cloud website filled with writings and teachings from Henry and other Sanbo Zen leaders, as well as a full calendar of all Mountain Cloud events.
Please support our active and growing community of Zen students and friends. Sangha is one of the Zen treasures offering necessary support, friendship and guidance to practitioners and the local community. You can see the exciting growth of our community through expanding initiatives like these…
Rio Grand Mindfulness Institute (RGMI) provides mindfulness education in public and private schools in Northern New Mexico. By the end of this year, RGMI will have hosted four public school Heart of Teaching retreats as well as numerous private school trainings. In March, RGMI hosted a week-long residential program for United World College students. Donations will help provide mindfulness training to educators and students by paying mindfulness teachers and support staff and offsetting the costs of our Heart of Teaching retreats for participants.
Mountain Cloud Prison Project volunteers offer a weekly mindful movement and meditation class to a growing number of motivated inmates at the New Mexico Penitentiary. Your donations will help us buy yoga and meditation supplies (mats and cushions) and will cover the personal costs (fuel) as well as some educational costs our teachers incur to obtain additional training for working with this high risk and underserved population. In addition your support will help us expand our program to offer more classes to both inmates and officers.
Mountain Cloud Residency Program began this last winter and is quickly expanding. We have had a total of 5 residents this year and have several more interested in joining us in 2018. Our residency program is a unique opportunity to live the dharma through sangha, practice and service. Contributions support the housing, feeding and training of our residents.
