Stewarding Our Soils: A Hands-on Watershed Health Workshop

Saturday, July 25th, 2026 | 10:00am – 2:00pm
In-person only; RSVP required. Please RSVP below
Join Mountain Cloud Zen Center for our first public educational workshop of the Ecodharma Land Stewardship Infrastructure Project! In collaboration with the Santa Fe Watershed Association and Southwest Urban Hydrology, we invite you to step onto the land and turn spiritual practice into ecological action.
In this interactive workshop, we’ll explore how to heal and care for our pinyon-juniper woodland. We’ll begin with an accessible introduction to the basics of hydrology, soil health, and erosion mitigation, learning how water moves through our landscape.
From there, we’ll take our practice onto the trails for hands-on restoration work. Guided by local hydrology experts, we’ll build traditional earth-healing structures, including one-rock dams and media lunas, to catch sediment and retain moisture. We’ll also help heal bare, aridifying patches of land by mulching and sowing native grass seeds, establishing vital root systems that will protect and stabilize the soil for years to come.
Whether you are a seasoned conservationist, a backyard gardener, or simply looking for a meaningful way to connect with the Earth, this workshop offers practical skills to build climate resilience right here in our community.
What to Bring: Work gloves, a water bottle, sun protection (hat/sunscreen), notebook (if you like to take notes), and sturdy closed-toe shoes.
