“Drawing is the discipline by which I constantly rediscover the world.” — Frederick Franck, The Zen of Seeing

In this short workshop, we will be approach drawing as a simple contemplative practice.  Rather than using it as a method for representing things, we will work with drawing as a way of sensing that relies less on the conceptual mind.  No drawing experience is necessary and simple materials will be supplied.  If you are an experienced drawer and want to bring your own materials, you are welcome to.

Lydia Moyer was a professor of visual art for seventeen years at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.  She left the university a few years ago to spend time living in Zen practice at several monasteries and has been a resident at Mountain Cloud more than once.  She now lives in Santa Fe.
