To kick off our Ecodharma Residency program, all are invited to join us for a community potluck followed by a film screening and discussion of the in-process documentary Ecodharma in Brazil: A pilgrimage through the pure lands. The screening will present 45 minutes of excerpts from the film in process, and be followed by community discussion with David Loy and the filmmakers. The film was co-created by one of Mountain Cloud’s Board Members, Andreas Hernandez, along with Daniela Montano Wilhelms.

Ecodharma in Brazil: A pilgrimage through the pure lands
Ecodharma in Brazil: A Pilgrimage Through the Pure Lands follows a five-week journey across Brazil, where Buddhist practice meets grassroots ecological and social transformation. Traveling with Zen teacher and author Roshi David Loy, the film traces a pilgrimage through CEBB Buddhist ecovillages, the inspiring experiences of the Brazilian Landless Workers’ Movement (MST), and other visionary communities devoted to the collective healing of land, spirit, and society.
Through encounters with ecovillage activists and residents, practitioners, farmers, and spiritual leaders, the film explores the intersection of ecology, dharma, and justice, deeply engaging the interconnections between inner and outer transformation. Vibrant, heartfelt, and grounded in lived experience, Ecodharma in Brazil captures the joy and urgency of communities working for ecological and social transformation. It offers a compelling look at what it means to live in right relationship with the Earth —while challenging the systemic forces that undermine it.
