We invite you to attend a Fire Mitigation Info Session on Tuesday, January 20th at 6:30pm MT (right after our evening Zazen). This session will provide context and updates on our Fire Mitigation process from Executive Director Sarah Giffin as well as a guest from the Forest Stewards Guild, the organization helping us thin a 1-acre area of our property.
The thinning process will begin on Wednesday, January 14th and continue on January 20th and 21st. The area being thinned is around the yurt down the arroyo toward the big Ponderosa pine and back around the sacred mound toward the Zendo (the area can be viewed on a map in the thinning and pile burn plan linked below).
Lots of care has gone into our decision to do Fire Mitigation on our land, and we hope this process is a catalyst for ongoing learning and sangha engagement in land stewardship efforts as an expression of our Ecodharma practice. Ahead of the meeting, we encourage sangha members to read the [Thinning and] Pile Burn Plan, peruse the full update on our fire mitigation efforts, and (for those who are local) to walk the acre of land that will be thinned.
