Sunday, March 9th
2:00 – 2:30pm – Silent Meditation
2:45pm – Memorial followed by Reception

Meditation and Memorial portion will be hybrid for those who’d like to attend online. 

Johanna Sindelar, a beloved sangha member whose contributions to the Mountain Cloud community are immeasurable, passed away a week ago Thursday, peacefully in her home and surrounded by her three loving children.

Johanna worked as a registrar, administrator, and organizational backbone for Mountain Cloud Zen Center for the better part of a decade, until she retired in October of 2023. She was a cherished member of the Mountain Cloud sangha, and nurtured a lifelong sitting practice that fueled her kindness, her generous, peaceful spirit, and joyful force of life.

She faced her nine-year battle with metastatic cancer with positivity, resilience, and an unbreakable spirit. Her family has requested that those willing, make a dana offering to Mountain Cloud in honor of Johanna’s memory and contribution.

Please join us on Sunday, March 9th, in celebrating the life of Johanna Sindelar, alongside her family, friends, and the Mountain Cloud community with a round of silent sitting, memorial service in the zendo, and reception to follow.
A silent sit will be held in the Zendo from 2:00 – 2:30pm. If you plan to join the sit, please arrive a few minutes early so that you can find your seat.  The memorial service honoring Johanna will begin at 2:45pm, and will be followed by a reception.  If you’d like to just attend for the Memorial Service and Reception, feel free to arrive between 2:30 – 2:45pm.
