Mindfulness in Context Talk with Guest speaker Dr. Jeff Proulx

Friday, August 16th; 6 –7 PM MST | In Person & Online
Our speaker is Dr. Jeff Proulx who hosted the Indigenous Mindfulness Coalition retreat at Mountain Cloud last year, returning again this Fall. He is a member of Mohawk nation, a scholar and practitioner, and recently joined our Indigenous Elders Council (a collaboration between MCZC and the National Indigenous Youth Leadership Development Project).
On Friday, he will join us to discuss the growing indigenous mindfulness movement. He’ll share about his own experiences in adapting and integrating mindfulness into community contexts, and balancing the power of existing culturally embedded healing and mindfulness modalities with more mainstream mindfulness tools.

Dr. Jeff Proulx is a scholar, mindfulness practitioner and member of the Mohawk Nation. His work focuses on the development of mindfulness programs in underserved, culturally embedded communities and how these programs may be protective for health outcomes. His efforts bridge Native American and African-American traditional contemplative and healing practices with mainstream mindfulness practices. Jeff is hosting the Indigenous Mindfulness Coalition Retreat at Mountain Cloud for the second time, this coming Fall.
