SocialiZen: Saturday May 20th, 9-10am MT

There is a saying:
If a tiger comes down off his mountain and goes to the lowlands, he will be caught by humans and killed. It means if a practitioner leaves his or her Sangha, it becomes difficult to continue the practice. Taking refuge in the Sangha is not a matter of devotion.
It is a matter of practice.

~ Thich Nhat Hanh, Living Buddha, Living Christ

Mountain Cloud will begin hosting SocialiZen on a monthly basis! Our next session is Saturday May 20, from 9- 10am MT in our online zendo.

SocialiZen is an informal, lightly facilitated time to connect with sangha, check in about your practice and exchange stories, questions and wisdom. It is free and open to all, whether you are new to Mountain Cloud or a longtime participant; whether you are local to Santa Fe or zooming in from across the globe.

This event series is being co-created with attendees — informed by your own vision — and continues to evolve from month to month. Attendees at the last session LOVED it and requested that this time we also engage with a Zen text together.

So, at the May 20 SocialiZen session, we will start with some facilitated getting-to-know each other and practice check-ins, followed by a short text reading, and then spend the majority of the session in informal small group dialogue. Small groups will be self-selected and based around themes decided by attendees — you’ll get the opportunity to dive deeper into the text or connect with sangha around other topics important to you.

How will we choose the text? You get to vote!

While Sosan tells us that “the Great Way is not difficult for those who don’t pick and choose,” we will make an exception here to help us in what Koun Yamada calls personalization of the way….

If you RSVP for the upcoming SocialiZen by end of day Monday May 15th, your vote will be counted towards our text selection. On Tuesday, we will send out copies of the text(s) in preparation for Saturday.

So, come along for this next iteration in our sangha co-creation!
